Frequently Asked Questions

  • You may need to take it to satisfy a court order.
  • The DMV requires you to attend a clinic. If you fail to complete the clinic by the DMV deadline, your driving privilege will be suspended until you meet this requirement.
  • Your license has been revoked and you are required to complete the course as part of your reinstatement process.
  • You may also volunteer to take this course, if you have a Virginia driver's license, to receive up to 5 safe driving points on your driving record. It is important that you review the Virginia DMV points system information at https://www.dmv.virginia.gov/licenses-ids/improvement/points/system to understand if you are eligible. For instance if you've earned safe driving points within the past two years, you may not be eligible to earn safe driving points through ABC Driving Clinic until two years has elapsed since the last time you earned points.
  • Students who satisfactorily complete this 8-hour course can now also get insurance premium reductions. Individuals should contact their insurance companies to advise as to whether or not they offer this discount.

  • The Virginia DMV has reviewed and Approved this online clinic. If the DMV requires you to take a Driver Improvement Clinic or you are voluntarily seeking positive points, you are eligible. Your court may or may not accept the certificate of completion. It is your responsibility to determine if your court accepts online driver improvement clinics.

  • You can complete the course at your own pace logging on and off as many times as necessary to complete the course.
  • To maintain active enrollment, you must complete the course within one year of your registration date. If you do not finish within this timeframe, your account will be archived. To resume access, you will be required to contact the instructor for reinstatement, which may take one to three business days.
  • However, keep in mind, the DMV or court has probably given you a deadline or due date by which you need to complete the course.

    • Once you have successfully completed the course by passing the final exam online, we will email you a course completion certificate (DMV Form DIC 552B). Upon making payment and passing the final exam, we will email your Certificate of Completion. Certificates will be processed and dated the same day as course completion. Certificates will be provided the same day, unless otherwise communicated by the clinic instructor.

    Court Submissions: If you need to submit a certificate to the court, please follow that court's specific instructions - ABC does not send certificates to traffic courts on your behalf. We strongly recommend completing the clinic at least one day before your court date to ensure you have the certificate in hand in time. While certificates are typically issued the same day you finish the course, they may not be available until after 6 PM. If the court has provided additional paperwork that requires an instructor's signature, please notify us in advance.

    DMV Requirements: If you're completing the clinic to meet a Virginia DMV requirement, please confirm with the DMV whether any additional steps - such as fee payments or other courses - are also required.

    The cost of the course is null. You will pay this fee using our secure payment processor. Once we have confirmed your payment receipt, your Certificate of Completion (DIC 552B) will be emailed to you. We accept null.

    There are NO special system requirements or downloads necessary to take this online course. However, please make a note of the following:

    • You will need to have Adobe Acrobat Reader DC on your computer to view/print your completion certificate. Adobe Acrobat Reader DC is FREE and can be downloaded by going to https://get.adobe.com/reader/
    • You will need to have JavaScript enabled on your Internet browser to view some of the features in the course. If you don't know what this means, don't worry!! Most modern browsers (like Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, Firefox, etc.) are JavaScript enabled already by default. So unless you have manually disabled JavaScript yourself, you will be fine.

    1. To begin, return to our home page and click on the "Sign Up" button or on the "Sign Up (New?)" link in our menu section.
    2. Select your course.
    3. Fill out the registration form.
    4. Review the information and click on the "register" button.
    5. The list of sessions will appear. Click on the "start course" button to begin learning!

    No; you can log-in, re-enter, and take the course using any computer with any type of Internet connection.

    You can either go to our home page and click the 'Log In' button (under "Returning Student?") or you can click the 'Log In (Returning?)' link in our menu section. Then you will just enter your First Name, Last Name, and Birthday and click the "Login" button to resume the course. Don't worry, our student progress monitoring feature will allow to pick up exactly where you left off.
